Part I
Genre and Audience:
The tradition/genre of this movie Hispanic. But I think that anybody can watch this film any enjoy it without being of Hispanic. Anybody can watch this film if they are interested in family and film that take on family issues. It can also relate to a coming of age story, with 3 kids that have to make hard choices in life and how they make those choices.
The features that determine the genre are basically everything that takes place in the film. The film opens up with Hispanic dancers and the audience can easily see that the movie relates to the Hispanic background.
The other work that it can be related to would probably be any other ethnicity, all are included in this film, and all play a big part. This film was directed by Taylor Hackford. We can tell the creators are heavily interested in all the ethnicity's involved in the film. Considering all the different people who are involved in the film. It relates to the directors other work because of the theme it puts across. The theme is family, and how to choose your REAL family over your friends. Other work by this director would be the film Ray. The target audience would be anyone who is interested in their background or anyone elses background. OR someone who would like to see what life is behind prison walls.
